Description

There are some phrases that probably need a little context. “I’m off to Magadan” is definitely one of them. But on 18 October, everything is perfectly official: flight plan filed, aircraft fuelled, ATC online — and your actual destination is Magadan (UHMM). The Far East ATC team invites you to Kolyma Calling 2, a flight from Khabarovsk (UHHH) to Magadan. Depart Khabarovsk, climb to your cruising level and head north across the vast Russian Far East. Below you: mountains, taiga, snow — and plenty of places where the question “What’s our nearest suitable alternate?” suddenly stops being theoretical. Khabarovsk ATC will handle the main departure wave from 09:00 to 11:00 UTC, while Magadan prepares to receive inbound traffic from 11:00 to 13:00 UTC. 18 October 2026 UHHH departures: 09:00–11:00 UTC UHMM arrivals: 11:00–13:00 UTC Boeing, Airbus or Tupolev — the choice is yours. Just make sure you have enough fuel and enough enthusiasm to travel to Magadan at roughly 450 knots. Check the weather, pick your alternate, start the engines and call: “Khabarovsk Control, good morning…” After that, well… you’re off to Magadan. This time, IFR and fully controlled.
